About Aria
Aria was established in Nagoya, Japan in 1956 by Shiro Arai. As an accomplished Classical guitarist Shiro had difficulty obtaining gut strings for his guitar and started to import nylon strings made by Augustine in New York. Word quickly spread among fellow players and students and a business of musical instrument manufacture and supply was born. Aria is now established as one of the premium fretted instrument manufacturers and is distributed in every country around the world. Guitars, amplifiers and accessories are now manufactured in Japan, Korea, Spain and China.
At Aria it is our aim to make great instruments that inspire musicians of all abilities. If you are just beginning guitar playing or you are an accomplished player we place the same level of importance on quality, playability and value.
We have been designing and making fretted instruments since 1956, which means a wealth of experience and acquired expertise. Great instruments don’t just happen. Our design team, themselves all players, work constantly with our endorsees and our factory craftsmen to make Aria guitars the best they can possibly be. At Aria we constantly strive to achieve a higher level of excellence, quality and value for musicians.
